“I have been curating and story telling my whole life. It began with tiny match box museums of the things I collected. Bucket loads of wild flowers, foraged and brought home. Miniature drawings and illustrations in my schoolbooks. And dreams of an imagined lane somewhere in my future…”

I’m Sarah, I live down a lane in an old hotch-potch of a farm. Perched on a ridge that falls away to reveal the unique folds, fields and woodland of East Sussex. Ever since we arrived here we have been determined to retain its character and charm, we have lovingly restored the cowshed and some of the other outbuildings. It’s still a pretty rustic affair, just how we like it!
The land is grazed in a gentle way and we have the benefit of beautiful wildflower meadows, in the spring there are bluebells and wild orchids in the field margins. In late summer there is the joy of cutting hay. In the autumn we are surrounded by the ancient trees of the Weald and their changing colours. Mist settles in the valley and we feel as though we might float away, somehow untethered. Our small orchard produces quince and meddler, crabs and pears. When winter arrives the winds are fierce, cutting logs, mending fences and gates are the order of things.
There is a wonderful timeless rhythm to life down the lane.
